TEAM TIPS

Let's Get Started

WELCOME TEAM CAPTAIN

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Team Captain for the 14th Annual Hospice Hope Run. As a Team Captain, your job is to motivate and encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to join your Team and to help raise funds to achieve your Team’s fundraising goals. Our job is to give you the tools to make your Team Captain experience fun, successful and rewarding.

TOOLS TO HELP YOU GET STARTED

  1. Take action, get started early and register as a Team Captain!
  2. Give your Team a name. A Team can be named in Honor or in Memory of someone special. Or you can come up with something that is fun and catchy like rhyming names. Have fun with this and make your Team name meaningful.
  3. Create a Team identifier. This can be a Team T-shirt, ball cap, bandana or signage. This will help to build camaraderie, momentum and energy.
  4. Set Team goals in terms of how many Team members you wish to recruit and how much money you want your Team to raise.
  5. Recruit people on your Team who have a passion for Hospice and a passion for fundraising.
  6. Share your story and the reason you are participating. Telling your story can be more powerful then just asking for a donation.
  7. Build a fundraising page or encourage your Team members to build their own. The more personalized your page, the more meaningful the message.
  8. Encourage Team members to send out their fundraising pages to as many friends, neighbors and colleagues they think would be interested in supporting them.
  9. Be persistent. A lot of final donations come from people who follow up. Stay in touch and in close communications with your supporters.
  10. Corporate Matching Gift Programs: This is an easy way to double your contributions. Make sure to tell your Team members to check with their employer.
  11. Pick up your Team Packet and distribute in a timely manner to your Team members. You will receive Hope Run T-shirts, bibs, the D-Tags for competitive runner’s and Run day information.
  12. Finalize your Run day plans. Carpool if possible and determine a  meeting place and gather as a team.
  13. Enjoy the Run day breakfast provided, and Aerobic Warm-ups together.
  14. Participate in the 14th Annual Hope Run!
  15. Enjoy Post Run Entertainment and Awards Presentation.
