The Hospice Hope Run could not be possible without the dedication of our numerous volunteers. Your dedication, time, talents, energy and passion is valued and deeply appreciated. THANK YOU!
This year marks the 14th Annual Hope Run. The Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Deacon Tower BB&T Field. The Hospice Hope Run is an event that has been celebrated and cherished in our community for 13 years. We have exciting plans in store to make the 2010 Hope Run the biggest and best ever. We have moved the run site location to the Deacon Tower at BB&T Field. This site will help us grow as we continue our mission of providing HOPE to our patients and families. In addition to our traditional 10K Run, we will be adding a new and certified 5K Run/Walk and Deacon Dash for children under the age of 8. We have organized a stellar Hope Run committee of over 35 committed community volunteers that will ensure the growth and vitality of this year’s event. There is a need for numerous Run day volunteers and the various needs are listed below.
Run Day Volunteer Positions and Descriptions
Course Monitors:Assist the police department with safely directing the runners and walkers throughout the course. Monitors are placed in different locations throughout both the 5K and 10K courses.
Split Timers:Split timers are placed at various mile markers throughout the course to communicate time to the participants.
Set Up:Volunteers are needed to set up the site location the day prior to the Run. This includes setting up tables and chairs and placing trash containers in various locations.
Food and Beverage: Volunteers are needed to set-up the food table and help with distribution of water and food items to participants.
Parking Volunteers:Volunteers are needed the day of the Run to help safely guide participants to the parking area (Coliseum Annex) and then guide the participants safely across the street to the Deacon Tower.
Clean Up:Volunteers are needed at the conclusion of the Run and Awards Presentation to help clean up the site and dispose of all trash.
*The first 200 volunteers will receive a Run Day Volunteer T-shirt to wear during the 2010 Hospice Hope Run.
